RadCom Report November 2014
The club met for the first time after the summer break with a lively discussion on the packed programme of events ahead. The members are looking forward to several special event stations - Railways on the Air, World Space Week and JOTA. Fun was had trying out a PJ80 receiver to see how well it picked up transmissions from an 80m transmitter which Matt Payne M0LMK had constructed using an Arduino.
Every month the club seems to take on a new member and September was no exception with two enthusiasts wanting to learn about amateur radio. They will be the first to try out a new system of club training where the candidates have to answer open ended questions instead of multiple choice questions. It is felt that this will give them a more thorough learning and understanding of the principles of amateur radio.
