First Buildathon
The club held its first ‘buildathon’ at the Crampton Tower hall when members spent several hours on a Saturday morning completing a project. There is little time at the Thursday meetings so a buildathon provides the opportunity to focus on a project and finish it in day.
Ian Lowe and his son Ben built a dummy load, a special device for attaching to a radio transceiver, which fits in a treacle tin! This was the first time that Ben had used a soldering iron. Ian Solly built a radio frequency detection probe, which is useful in oscillation circuits.
