The Hilderstone radio club has won the top club of the year in Sussex and Kent for the third year running. The regional manager of the Radio Society of Great Britain Mick Senior presented the Hilderstone radio club with the shield. Mick said that the club’s application was outstanding for its outreach work, its organising of special event radio stations, its training of new members and for its interesting programme of talks.
The club has supported Wellesley House school with the amateur radio contact with astronaut Tim Peake and coached two pupils, Ethan and Benny, through their amateur radio foundation licence. The club celebrates events such as Museums on the Air by putting on special radio stations and in fact will be at the Spitfire Museum on the 18 June and at Draper’s Mill on 25 and 26 June. Club Chairman John Hislop said that the award is due to the enthusiasm and hardworking efforts of the club members.
