Geek Show

Oliver Barker helping a visitor
Six members of the club took part in the four days of the Margate GEEK2013 show at the Winter Gardens. They were demonstrating the capabilities of the amazing Raspberry Pi computer, which only costs £25 and can do everything a normal computer can do.
A lot of visitors to the show had bought one and they weren’t sure where to go for help. The club members were able to show how to do simple programming, download games for free and do all the normal things, such as emailing and surfing the web.

If we had £1 for every time someone asked “are you selling them?†we would be rich! Also on show was the versatile Arduino microprocessor. On the sunday the club was assisted by six year old Oliver Barclay from Callis Grange nursery and infant school.
He showed visitors how to make squishy circuits using conducting play dough. A typical comment was “Wow, that’s really cool!â€
