Mills on the Air weekend

We had a great time at the White Mill in Sandwich.

Could you put a brief report on the website with some photos please. I sent some details to Chrissie to send to members, much of which is below:

The Mills on the Air weekend was a great success – thanks to Len West, Ian Solly, Clive Widdus, Harry Donovan, Chris and Chrissie Turner, Graham Harris, Michael Elston and Peter Love. Special thanks must go to Matt Payne who organised the event, with a little help from Wiggles and Kaz!

The chairman of the White Mill Rural Heritage Centre, Ray Horton, made us feel most welcome. We enjoyed the tea making facilities and took advantage of their electrical power, sheltering in the Wheelwright’s workshop and the miller’s cottage from the strong wind.

It was so good that we intend to return for the Museums on the Air on the Sunday 22nd June and to host JOTA and TDOTA there as well. Matt even wants to set up a top band aerial, making use of the tall trees and the windmill.

I would encourage members to attend these special event radio stations. They are a good opportunity to publicise the club and it is most enjoyable when there is a scramble by other radio operators around the country to make contact with you. The next special event is Museums on the Air on Saturday 14th June at the Manston Spitfire Museum, followed by the White Mill on the Sunday 22nd.
