The members were very pleased to learn that they have received funding to bring Direction Finding and Solar Dynamics into the classroom thanks to STELAR. The aim is to show pupils the principles of radio communications and for them to become involved in a fun and challenging way.
The club has the only Solar Ionsopheric Disturbance monitor in the country and they will be using it to show pupils how solar flares can affect communications and satellites. Five members have embarked on the online foundation course run by Chris Pettitt G0EYO.
The club operated GB0NFL from the North Foreland Lighthouse as part of the International Lighthouse and Lightships weekend, enjoying many successful contacts. The photo shows Chris Turner G0VUT, Harry Donovan, Clive Widdus G1WCR, Ian Solly M0CAG, Nick Parker 2E0POS and Matt Payne M0LMK, who organised the event, with the North Foreland Lighthouse in the background.
