About The Club

Welcome to the Hilderstone Radio Society!

Club members receiving the RSGB “Club Of The Year” award.

The club is made up from licensed amateur radio enthusiasts, students studying for their licence and even a short wave listener in Italy.

We have a wide variety of interests including construction of electronic projects, using computers in amateur radio and entering contests. We are keen to advance our knowledge of radio communications as well as passing on that knowledge to local schools and organisations.

We have been awarded club of the year in our region by the Radio Society of Great Britain for 2013, 2014, and 2015! Three years running, and now second place National large club of the year 2015.

In 2016 we helped Wellesley House school in Broadstairs with their amateur radio contact with Tim Peake while he was in orbit on the International Space Station. To watch the event visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMCMoHxPYs8. The school also features in the video GB1SS, schools speaking to Tim Peake, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByEf1xlWZyE
